No extension of deadline for legalization of illegally built facilities

The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Oliver Dulić, invited the citizens of Serbia yesterday (March 3, 2010) to submit applications for legalization of illegally built facilities prior to March 11th.

On the occasion of the visit to the City Administration for Legalization in Užice, Dulić pointed out that there were no legal or other justified reasons for extension of that deadline. He added that large number of applications had already been submitted.

He explained that the owners of illegal facilities did not have to pay for legalization immediately, but that they needed to register their buildings by submitting the applications in order to enter the procedure that would last for few months, or maybe even years in some towns.

The Minister pointed out that the current legalization was massive and that it would not be repeated, and he warned that all those who avoided that procedure would face the danger to pay large taxes for illegal facilities that they would never be able to put in economic function.

Dulić pointed out that the legalization of illegally built facilities had never been easier and more favorable, and he added that the state made it possible for everybody to finally live in the houses that they had built from their own money.

He praised the city of Užice for offering favorable terms of legalization since a residential building of approximately 100 square meters in that town can be legalized for about 550 EUR.

According to his words, the representatives of the Ministry are also talking with the authorities in other municipalities about adaptation of the fees to the difficult economic situation in order to make massive legalization as successful as possible.

Dulić handed positive Report on audit of the Spatial plan of the city of Užice to its Mayor Jovan Marković, and that is the first important document in the process of adoption of that plan, which is of exceptional importance for application of the Law on Spatial Planning.

Within the framework of ecological campaign Green Caravan of Serbia, the Minister visited company Inos Sinma, which purchases and recycles metal and non-metal waste.
