"Smederevski Đeram" to become the most modern market in Serbia - construction of business center, underground garage and square with flower market in the pipeline

"Smederevski Đeram" is going to become the most modern market in Serbia, and probably in the Balkans, in 2012, following the reconstruction of existing green market and construction of a business center with two towers, a city square with a flower piazzetta and coffee shops, and an underground garage.

Belgrade-based Public Utility Company "Gradske pijace" will invest 16m EUR in that unique market complex at 31,500 square meters in the borough of Zvezdara. "eKapija" learns from "Gradske pijace" that the commencement of works is expected in May 2010.

New market "Đeram" will comprise two mutually connected wholes - two business facilities between Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard and Đevćeliska Street, and covered market plateau between Đevćeliska Street and Đakovačka Street. The preliminary solution for that modern complex was designed by Transportation Institute CIP.

The business towers at total surface of 7,000 square meters will have five floors each.

Public Utility Company "Gradske pijace" will keep a certain part of the office space in one of the towers for the needs of its directorate, while the remaining space will be offered to the private partner that will be engaged in construction of the whole complex. People from "Gradske pijace" say that the details of that public-private partnership will be specified after the Law on Public Utilities is put in effect.

As "eKapija" learns, there will be a plateu-piazzetta between the two business buildings, which will serve as a small flower market. There will also be some outdoor catering contents in that location, while the space beneath the piazzetta, at the level of the market plateau, is reserved for retail-office space, outlets and flower shops.

The market plateau of "Đeram" will be covered and it will include 250 counters at the green market, 45 counters in the dairy hall, and about 60 outlets that can be accessed from both the street and the market plateau.

There will be two underground floors underneath the level of the market plateau and business facilities. A garage with the parking spaces for about 130 vehicles will be built on that first underground floor, while the second floor is reserved for the garage for passenger and delivery freight vehicles, two shelters, storage space for food products, cold storage plants and accompanying space that is necessary for functioning of the market.
