DULIĆ: Programme of mass residential construction to be presented soon

The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Oliver Dulić, announced today (July 13, 2009) that the Government of Serbia would present the programme of mass residential construction by the end of the week. That programme should make it possible for citizens to purchase apartments at lower prices.

Dulić said at the opening of the production unit in factory "Stražilovo" that the programme anticipated that the municipalities enabled allotment of building land, quicker obtaining of building permits and infrastructural equipping of the land.

According to his words, the Army of Serbia could also join that programme by allotting free building land.

Dulić added that building companies must give up "huge profit" and realize that the prices of of housing space were not real at the moment because demand was not that big.

- The state and banks will stimulated demand by granting subventions for mortgage loans to citizens, while the banks will help building companies start construction of apartments - said Dulić.

As he explained, the programme will be realized in association with the Ministry of Economy.

According to his words, the building industry in Serbia has registered fall by 16% in 2009, which also significantly contributes to reduction of GNP.
