Four attractive locations for development of tourism on Vlasina – land-utilization plans by end of year
Municipality of Surdulica has recently announced an open competition for design of land-utilization plans for the territory of Vlasina, which means that the conditions will be, finally, created for legalization of the existing private facilities and undisturbed construction of new ones. The plans will be made for PGR Vlasina Rid, PGR Vlasina Okruglica, PGR Vlasina Stojković’s, POU Vlasina lake with the surrounding area, the interest in which has been expressed by numerous local and foreign companies.
Zoran Mitić, the Deputy Mayor of Surdulica, told eKapija that the investors were primarily interested in construction of hotels and sports contents. Mitić says that the majority of parcels are in private possession and that the municipality will introduce numerous benefits for building projects.
- The invitation for submission of bids is open prior to May 3rd and, according to current estimates, it will take about six months for the land-utilization plans to be finished. The making of the plans, of which value is about 20m RSD, should be financed by the municipality of Surdulica and the Ministry of Environment Protection and Spatial Planning – Mitić explains and points out that the earlier agreement anticipated sharing of all costs fifty-fifty.
There is, currently, one hotel, two motels and a holiday hostel owned by the Electric Power Company of Serbia on Vlasina, while the lodging capacities, along with private houses, amount to about 2,000 beds.
- The Feasibility Study for development of tourism infrastructure on the territory of Vlasina is being made by company “Eptisa” and financed by the European Commission. Following the completion of that study, which should be finished until June, the European Commission will decide if it is going to help the intrastructural equipping of Vlasina. According to that study, Vlasina’s lodging capacities could grow to about 10,000 beds.
Modernization of sewerage system, water supply system and electric grid is necessary, as well as construction of roads in the tourist area. The whole investment is estimated at about 11m EUR, 80% of which would be provided by the European Commission, while the rest would be set aside by the municipality with the help from the state.
