Future pride of Novi Sad, Marina on the Danube, to be developed in phases - completion expected prior to year 2021

City of Novi Sad will obtain a marina on the Danube prior to year 2021 at the latest and, according to the General Land-utilization Plan, this project also anticipates extension of the capital city of Vojvodina to the banks of this river. According to the words of architects from the Institute for Development of Novi Sad, Vladan Varićak and Miljan Janjušević, the plans for detailed regulation have been finished and the purchase of parcels that are only partially owned by the City is underway.

- The marina on the Danube comprises three parts that are defined by different plans. When we say "Marina", we think of the overall extension of the city to the banks of the Danube, while the preliminary project also includes, among the rest, development of the marina as a pier. Actually, that is the space where two marinas should be built - one in the vicinity of the Navy, and the other on the territory of present bathing resort "Šodroš" – said our collocutors.

As Varićak and Janjušević pointed out, the anticipated extension of the city of Novi Sad to the banks of the Danube includes the territory of Kamenička Ada, Ribarsko Ostrvo (Fishing Island) and the area between the Navy and bathing resort "Štrand". One marina should be built at the space between bathing resort "Štrand" and the Navy, alongside the bank.

- Total value of the project is still unknown because everything is still at the level of idea, but what is for certain is that the whole project should be completed prior to year 2021 and we hope that everything will be finished much earlier – Varićak pointed out.

As Janjušević pointed out, the extension of Novi Sad to the Danube will include development of sports-recreation facilities, hotels, commercial-business contents...

- Commercial-business center, hotel complex and marina should be built on Kamenička Ada. There is also a space for a yachting club, water sports, possible skating rink, because our aim is to enable one such complex "live" during the whole year – Janjušević explains and adds that the space of Ribarsko Ostrvo is reserved for three primary purposes - tourism, sport and recreation. When it comes to the free undeveloped surface, the focus is on organization of space with insignificant development of facilities.

As our collocutors pointed out, the current level of development and projected purpose led to the division of Ribarsko Ostrvo into four areas. The first area is between the motor camp and canal "Šodroš", the area for the motor camp is the second area, park-forest is the third area, while settlement Ribarac is the fourth area.

- As far as Ribarsko Ostrvo is concerned, we should point out that no tree will be cut and no new facility will be built on this territory, while the space for marina will go through a lot of changes – our collocutors explained.

By the way, the investor of the whole project is city of Novi Sad.
