Banja Koviljača for sale by united model - privatization of spa resort through investments by state and strategic partner

The State Secretary for Tourism, Goran Petković, announced yesterday (October 29, 2008) in Loznica that the Special Rehabilitation Hospital and Hotel Tourist Company from spa resort Banja Koviljača would be offered for sale by the united model of the offer.

As he explained, medical and hotel-catering capacities will be united the first and they will then be privatized through joint investment by the state and strategic partner.

Petković said at the press conference that that was the new model for attracting the strategic partner, which should improve the status and operations of Banja Koviljača as the unique system. He said that that model should be put in use by the beginning of the next year.

- What characterizes Banja Koviljača now are the spa's park, one of the most beautiful parks in Serbia, Special Hospital and valuable spa's facilities, which will, most certainly, attract future investors - said Petković.

He estimated that the separate privatization would give "catastrophic results" because "several independent owners at the unique destination like Banja Koviljača could make problems to each others".
