Public notaries in Serbia have started digitizing their operations, which will be crowned by connecting to certain electronic databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the offices of vital statistics, as well as the land register. As confirmed for Novosti by Miodrag Djukanovic, president of the Chamber of Public Notaries, the amendments to the Law on Land Register are currently being implemented. They will oblige notaries to report any change of ownership over real estate property in the land register within 24 hours.

Based on public notary certificates, filed electronically, the land register will perform automatic registration of new owners, freeing the citizens from the need to file applications in person.

The strategy of digitization is being carried out by the Chamber of Public Notaries together with OSCE, with financial support from the World Bank.
