MIHAJLOVIC: New law on land register by the end of the first quarter of 2018

(Zorana Mihajlovic) Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Zorana Mihajlovic said on December 11 that she expected the new law on land register entries to be adopted by the end of the first quarter of 2018.

She said that the law should unify the procedure of having property entered in the land register by a notary, instead of in six different places, as is the current practice.

– Serbia is now 57th on the Doing Business list looking by property registration and we expect to advance by at least twenty spots with the adoption of this law – Mihajlovic said at the fifth annual conference of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham).

The minister pointed out that the Work Group for improving Serbia's rating on the Doing Business list was also preparing amendments to the Law on Bankruptcy Proceedings, Company Law, the abolition of stamps and an improvement of spatial plans, and that the work on the abolition of certain fees was already in progress.

– These are the key laws we are planning in the first quarter of 2018, so that they could be implemented as soon as possible – Zorana Mihajlovic said.
