Novi Sad to get another office building – Tender for demolishing abandoned facilities behind Novi Sad Fair opens

(Illustration) The Novi Sad Administration for Building Land and Investments has placed a tender for the demolishing of the city-owned facilities at 10 Branka Bajica Street, behind the Novi Sad Fair.

The project entails the demolition of one- and two-floor buildings of the total area of over 3,000 m2, which are abandoned, devastated and a hazard, considering that they are no longer used for the purpose for which they were built. This would enable the parcel to be sold and then a new office facility to be built, making for considerable revenues for the City of Novi Sad, the tender documentation states.

The demolition process will require paying special attention to preventing the toxic matters from spreading, as all facilities have asbestos cement roofs. The workers will therefore have to be specially protected and the waste specially treated.

Furthermore, these facilities also feature radioactive lightning-rods, and the experts from the Vinca Institute will therefore have to be involved in their removal.

The bid submission deadline is September 27, 2017, and the opening is scheduled for the same date and is to take place at the Administration’s premises in Novi Sad.

The parcel in question has 6,036 m2 and has been included in the offer at the Administration’s website from before. Of the available area, 4,500 m2 is the net area for the construction of a four-to-seven-floor building with around 30,000 m2 intended for business activities, commerce, hospitality and similar content.

The construction of this future complex will require a public architectural contest.
