Novo Milosevo getting a basketball court in honor of Ranko Zeravica (PHOTO)

Cedomir Zeravica from Novo Milosevo started a Foundation in honor of basketball expert Ranko Zeravica, who died last year. The Foundation will aid the development of basketball in addition to preserving the memory of everything the famous coach had done.

The first task of the Foundation is to build, in the place where he grew up, not far from his family home, a basketball court with spectator platforms and Ranko's house with all his diplomas, trophies, medals, photographs, that is, everything that was saved.

The Foundation says that Ranko Zeravica, a visionary coach, built the foundations of today's modern basketball in this region. This is what the Foundation is trying to preserve, enhance and transmit to new generations.

Ranko Zeravica's heirs wish to show what his work was, preserve the memories and transmit them to new generations, in the place from which he, as a boy from Novo Milosevo, set out to become a world-class coach.

The idea is for Ranko's lifework to live on through basketball projects and humanitarian work.

The conceptual design has been finalized, while the project documentation is still being prepared.

According to the conceptual design, the future complex will contain “Ranko's place”, “Ranko's house”, a basketball court with spectator platforms, locker rooms and mini basketball courts.

“Ranko's place” is a space meant for socializing, refreshment, gatherings of all kinds. The total surface is 180 m2, and the estimated value of the object is EUR 38,250.

“Ranko's house” will be used to display all of Ranko's basketball achievements – the story which will follow Ranko's life, from his birth, through his school years, to all the clubs he worked for and coached. The estimated value of the object, with its 180 m2 of surface, is EUR 82,500.

The court, which will contain a covered section and spectator platforms and have a surface of 690 m2, will be used to organize camps, tournaments and for recreation for people of all ages. The estimated value of the object is EUR 198,400.

The court will also contain three locker rooms, with showers and toilets, estimated to be worth EUR 20,200.

Mini basketball courts, children's playground, drinking water tap, green surfaces and parking spaces are side features which will be available to sportsmen at organized events like seminars, camps, tournaments... The estimated value of these side features is EUR 66,700.

According to the statements in the media, the realization of the Ranko Zeravica center is expected to be supported by donations from the Spanish clubs which the renowned sportsman had led and coached for years.
