Investor submits documents for construction permit for Novi Nis - Construction announced in 2012, negotiations on deadline extension in progress

(Novi Nis) Contract which obliges American company Colliers International Serbia to build a complex "New Nis" at the land of former barracks "Bubanjski Heroji" has not been respected in two key issues, according to the Deputy Mayor of Nis Ljubivoje Slavković. He pointed out that deadline was not met, and bank guarantee has not been provided on time.

The investor announced laying the foundations for commercial and residential facility in mid-2012, but the works have not started yet.

Head of the City Planning and Construction Department, Rodoljub Mihajlovic confirmed that Colliers International Serbia last week submitted a request for the issuance of location conditions which is a prerequisite for obtaining a construction permit.

According to initial announcements, US company should invest app. EUR 60 m in the construction of “New Nis”. It is planned that the complex should contain a modern business center, hotel, housing area on app. 100,000 m2, shopping center, aqua park, sports fields, swimming pool, university building, dormitory, luxury apartments and a hospital.

All facilities, according to original agreement, should be completed by 2022.
