Construction of Safe house in Zrenjanin

Yesterday (May 16, 2007), the President of the Executive Board of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtić, and the President of Administrative Board of "Fund B92", Veran Matić, signed the contract on donation for construction of “Safe house” in Zrenjanin.

- In the spirit of respect for social responsibility, Provincial Government joined “For Our Children” campaign with the donation of 5m RSD and we are ready to back such projects in the other parts of Vojvodina as well – said Bojan Pajtić at the press conference.

He pointed out that that institution in Zrenjanin would be put into operation by the end of the year and that it would be followed by the construction of similar facilities in Subotica, Sombor and other parts of the Province, so that it could offer sanctuary to all those who need it.

- RTV B92 started "For Our Children" campaign, of which aim is to call the attention of the public to all aspects and consequences of the violence in the family in Serbia, to help concrete mechanisms of protection and to initiate development and educational projects – said Veran Matić and reminded that that campaign was started with the construction of the house – shelter for women and children who are victims of the family violence.

Matić expressed his belief that that was exceptionally important national project whose aim was, not only to protect the victims of violence, but also to prepare them for an independent life and to provide them the jobs, after certain time, with the help of business subjects and various organizations.

Provincial Government will also back such projects in the future with the donations in amount of half of the value of the facility of safe house. The locations for the construction of the house should be provided by local self-governments.
