Embassy of the Netherlands starts initiative to speed up adoption of bylaws in Law on efficient energy consumption

(Laurent Louis Stokvic) The Ambassador of the Netherlands in Serbia, his Excellence, Laurent Louis Stokvic, submitted yesterday to the minister of energy and mining, Aleksandar Antic, a letter signed by 24 embassies, international organizations and business associations.

The letter expresses gratitude for dedication in energy efficiency development in Serbia but it also outlines the fact that it is necessary to adopt as soon as possible appropriate bylaws, first of all ECSO contracts models which would enable companies to sign ESCO contracts with public sector through public-private partnership model.

Minister Antic thanked to ambassador for the initiative, outlining that the Ministry will do everything it can to speed up the adoption of the contracts so that, terms for ESCO market functioning would be enabled as soon as possible.

The model would enable development of public infrastructure and generate great savings while public sector at the same time would not fee any financial burden due to large savings percentage ESCO companies invest from. The Embassy of the Netherlands and its partners will continue monitoring the initiative, hoping that ESCO market will in 2015 already comprise public sector, the Dutch Embassy announced.
