Mutual decision of the authorized inspections of Russia and Serbia is to ban live cattle trading from the territory of Serbia to the Russian market.

As of September 30, the Russian department for veterinary monitoring, Rosselkhoznadzor, imposed temporary measures of ban on import of some cattle to the Russian market from four regions of Italy as well as from Romania and Serbia, Russian media has reported today.

The head of the veterinary institution in Serbia, Sanja Celebicanin, explains for B92 that the ban refers solely on live cattle and that it has nothing to do with meat export.

- This moment we are working expert an justification measures, i.e. we are putting ban on sale and mixing of animals, we are localizing disease, carrying out disinfection measures and monitoring of all farms in the area, after a few days situation is getting back to normal – she says and adds that cold time and smaller number of mosquitoes is a good thing since it will prevent disease spread.
