New packaging of Zacin C and Senf C – Surcin-based Nestle decreases waste

In one year, Surcin-based Nestle is planning to save and decrease waste generated in production a product packaging process by 67 tons.
In one year time, change in design and dimensions of packaging of C and Maggi brands will result in consumption decrease of 61 tons of paper and six tons of plastics which is the quantity which could cover the football field area, the company announced.
Savings will be generated through decrease in packing dimensions but also through usage of paper laminate which degrades faster instead of current packing foils for“C" and "Maggi" soups and additives to food.
Package modification and paper usage decrease will save 15.250 square meters of woods annually.
At the global level in 2013, Nestle reduced consumption of material used for packing by 66.594 tons, totaling 158, 5 million Swiss francs, while in 2012 the savings totaled 47.125 tons.
Nestle is constantly striving for operational efficiency increase and decrease of dangerous impacts on environment and in line with that, the company made a plan that until 202 in all its plans in Europe, 150 of them, reaches “zero“waste level.
This means that waste from any of the plants will not be disposed at landfills but recycled and used for energy production.
The example of local Nestle’s investments in energy efficiency and environmental protection are Surcin and Stara Pazova-based plants where thecompany invested in sanitary and technological waste water treatment facilities so that clean water would return to environment.
Since 2012, water consumption in Surcin decreased for more than 60% and the company invested five million euros in production process improvement so that production in Serbia would be in line with high quality standards Nestle is implementing in all its plants worldwide.
