IKEA is coming to Ljubljana
Popular Swedish furniture producer, IKEA, is coming to Ljubljana soon and on Friday, September, 26, 2014 representatives of the company signed with the municipality Ljubljana a memorandum of understanding which implies municipal authorities should issue necessary permits and prepare urban plan so that the city could see the first IKEA shop opening.
SEE Real Estate Manager at IKEA,Vladislav Lalic and the mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Jankovic, signed the Memorandum.
- Memorandum confirms we are serious– Lalic said after the signing and added that it cannot be said exactly when IKEA could open in Ljubljana.
Still, the mayor of Ljubljana saidhe expects IKEA department store could open by the summer 2017.
The project is estimated at EUR 80 mand it is counted that IKEA would employ 300 people.
IKEA department store will be built on 30.000 m2 still owned by Triglav insurance company which confirmed it is negotiating with Swedish company on sale. The land is next to Ljubljana-based trade headquarters called Blagovno-trgovski center (BTC), with the biggest complex of shops in Slovenia.
