Roaming cancellation agreement underway



The Montenegrin Government considered the agreement on roaming prices cut which representatives of the countries of the region will sign on Monday, September 29 in Budva. The agreement implies gradual decrease until the final cancelation of this kind of mobile operators’ service.
Representatives of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Serbia, Macedonia and Albania will sign the agreement and all countries in the region, EU and other countries can join, it was stated in the document which the Montenegrin Government was considering at yesterday’s meeting and whose segments are reported by Podgorica media.
The agreement on roaming prices decrease implies changes of the law so that mobile telephony operators could cancel roamingservices in the countries of the region which sign the agreement.
Roaming prices will gradually decrease in stages; it was stated in the agreement.
Montenegrin Government stated that unlike EU countries, in the West Balkans countries roaming prices are high and thus customers “avoid using that kind of service when they travel outside their country".
As of July 1 this year, EU citizens pay half the roaming service price than they used to and the decision on allowed roaming fees is a step to final cancellation of the service, by the end of 2015 latest.
Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey and Albania have recently agreed to equal phone call prices in roaming in local traffic as of the beginning next year.
