Fiat generates EUR 774 m in 1H 2014

In 1H 2014, Fiat automobili Srbija (FAS/Fiat cars Serbia) generated turnover of EUR 774 mil while the exports totaled EUR 753 mil, the company management said on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in Kragujevac.

It is a turnover increase of 23% compared to the same period last year while exports rose by , 25, and production by 20%, journalists were told at FAS.

- We achieved success after a number of years of growth and business activities as the main investor in Serbia – GM at FAS, Silvia Vernetti, said.

She outlined that temporary production halt in early September is a “normal thing ”because market demand is not always on the increase and added that the work continued at normal pace.

According to her, FAS will again halt the production if necessary and will have “flexible plans”.

When asked whether flexibility means layoffs as well, Vernetti said there are no such plans but that she cannot foresee the future.

- We are carefully monitoring market development – Vernetti said.
