Viber gets video calls

New, fifth version of Viber application for internet messages and voice calls exchange introduced a video call option as well as contact sharing through QR codes.

Before it became a part of the application, video call option via mobile devices was in testing stage for two years and it was previously implemented in Viber desktop option, portal bug.hr. reports.

Apart from video calls, in application version for iOS and Android devices, QR codes are also new features. They enable contact data with other users.

By the end of the year, Viber announced three new application features more which will, among other things, contain games.

At the beginning of the year, Japanese Rakuten acquired Viber for USD 900 m.
