Sugar water packed in pills - Confiscated drugs worth more than EUR 10 m

Police of Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Hungary, Slovakia, Spain and Great Britain, with the support of Evropol and the Eurojust agency, carried out campaign of preventing distribution of false drugs in EU. Evropol states that in that action, among other things, a few million pills estimated at more than ten million euros, were confiscated.

Confiscated “drugs” were imported to EU from Asia and they contained wrong dosage and ingredients which can seriously harm patients’ health.

As a collocutor of Dnevnik, PR of the Agency for drugs and medicines, Aleksandar Tucovic, says consumers ‘protection is carried out on more levels and every doubt in false drug can be reported to the Inspection which goes on site and brings it to the Agency for analysis.

-When the Agency finishes analysis, it issues a certificate which either confirms originality or states the sample does not comply with the quality standard – Tucovic explains.
