(Zeljko Sertic)

The Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, will suggest the president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Zeljko Sertic, for the minister of trade, B92 finds out.

August 4, the Assembly of Serbia acknowledged the resignation of Dusan Vujovic at the position of the minister of trade and it appointed him the minister of finance the same day.

Vujovic resigned since he was appointed the minister of finance since the former minister of finance, Lazar Krstic, resigned July 12 which the Assembly acknowledged three days later.

After the resignation of Vujovic the Prime Minister had two weeks to suggest a new minister.

Namely, according to the Law on Government, the Prime Minister is obliged to suggest the selection of the new minister to the National Assembly, within 15 days as of the mandate of the previous minister ends and the new minister is elected via majority of voices out of the toal number of parliament members. The Law on Government does not define deadline within which the assembly should elect a new minister.

Zeljko Sertic has been appointed the president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce since March last year.

- I am thankful to the Prime Minister Vucic for the given trust at this moment to manage one of the key ministries for the economy of Serbia. It is a great honor for me and a huge responsibility. If the parliament confirms the selection, I will work at the new position the same as I did at the position of the president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce – in the best interest of Serbian economhy and the state – Sertic has announced today.

- At this moment, as key activities I see development of as favorable and incentive-oriented business environment and investing through reforms in all segments and authorities of ministry and solving of key issues the economy faces so that its healthy core and the part which can bring it to life could increase efficiency, hire as many people as possible, and become as competitive at the international market match which is waiting for us during and after the EU integration process as possible – still current president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce added.
