Serbia’s public debts totals EUR 20,89 billion

On August 6, 2014, public debt in Serbia totaled RSD 2.438,9 billion which is EUR some 20,89 billion, the Public debt administration has announced today.
Late last year, i.e. December 31, 2013, public debt totaled RSD 2.309 billion or 63,8% GDP and already on March 31 this year it has increased to RSD 2.366,19 billion but the stake in GDP fell to 62,3%.
On June 30 this year, public debt totaled RSD 2.392,1 billion or EUR 20,66 billion and 63% GDP.
The law on budget system governs that the stake of public debt in GDP is limited to 45%.
According to the terms of the contract from Maastricht (EU), the limit below which a country is considered to be mid-indebted is 45% of GDP and the limit defined for EU membership is below 60% of GDP.
