Rocky on time - erection of monument to famous boxer in Žitište starts on March 10

Erection of the monument to legendary Rocky Balboa in Žitište, near Zrenjanin, will start on March 10. Artist from Dalj, Boris Staparac, will be making the statue by the model of American sculptor Tomas Šomberg.

Vice President of the Municipality, Zoran Babić, says that Staparac visited Žitište last weeked and that, being enthusiastic about that idea, he offered help. Namely, Staparac is also a donator, so that the expenses of the erection of the monument will be cut in half.

The monument should be made in 60-90 days, the statue will be 2.60 m high (3.8 m with the pedestal) and it will weigh 1 ton. The offer to participate in the erection of the statue has also been given by stonecutter Siniša Milivojević from Vrbas, who will finance and make stairways and plateau of the marble from Jablanica.

This action has also been backed by "Agroživ", which has units in Žitište, so that it will cover all expenses of the stay of the artist from Dalj. Especially interesting is the support provided by the Police from Žitište. Their premises will serve as a workshop for Staparac.
