On Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in Frankfurt, the President of the European Central Bank, (ECB) Mario Dragi and the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) signed the Agreement on cooperation in the field of euro counterfeiting prevention and revelation in Serbia, NBS announced at its official site.

Based on the agreement, ECB will deliver to the central bank of Serbia technical specifications of original euro money and counterfeit classification.

NBS will deliver ECB information on new counterfeit euro money as well as monthly reports on all copies found in Serbia.

It is the first agreement of ECB and NBS since the beginning of negotiations on Serbia’s membership in EU.

The agreement was signed on the margins of the first political dialogue of high officials held July 14 in Frankfurt between two institutions.

Once a year, ECB organizes these kinds of dialogues with the management of central banks which are candidates for EU membership and which started accession negotiations, it was stated in the announcement of NBS.
