Mining Smeltery Basin (RTB) "Bor" sold to Romanian company "Cuprom" for 400m USD


Government of Serbia has sold Mining-Smeltery Basin "Bor" to Romanian company "Cuprom" for 400m USD.
"Cuprom" won on the tender by offering 80m USD more than the second-ranked consortium made of Cyprus-based company "East
Point", in which one of the owners is Serbian businessman Zoran Drakulić,
and London-based Fund "ORN".
The tender for sale of RTB Bor was announced on September 1, 2006, and the minimal price for procurement of copper mines Bor and Majdanpek and enterprises Smeltery and Refinery in Bor amounted to 266.7m USD.
The representatives of the trade unions of RTB and "Cuprom" have reached the agreement on social program, which will be put in effect after Romanian company becomes owner of RTB.
The negotiations about signing of contract on privatization of RTB lasted for more than 2 months. The agreement has been reached after the Romanians and the representatives of trade unions agreed on allotment of 400 EUR per year of work to the workers who are declared surplus manpower.
The contract on privatization of RTB in the Government of Serbia has been signed by the representatives of company "Cuprom", Minister of Energy and Mining of Serbia, Radomir Naumov, and the Manager of the Privatization Agency Vladimir Galić.
