Aimed by Canadian businessmen – Serbia became more interesting to investors from Canada in past years

Economic collaboration between Serbia and Canada registers more positive trend in the past years. According to the announcements of the representatives of Canadian Embassy to Belgrade, significant number of new investment projects whose carriers are Canadian businessmen should be implemented by the end of year 2007, some of them independently, some in the partnership with local entrepreneurs.

According to the words of the Manager of the Department of Economic Relations of the Embassy of Canada, Đurđa Ćeramilac, the interest of Canadian businessmen in investments in Serbia is growing bigger every years. The best confirmation for that are, certainly, some already successfully realized jobs.

- We can find Canadian investments in every segment of Serbia's economy at the moment. These investments are very often placed by the businessmen who were born in Serbia and live and work in Canada. I will cite only few examples of such collaboration. The first is "Budućnost" farm in Dobanovci, which was recently bought by certain Canadian consortium of investors, one of which was Mr. Đura Obradović, and we made a modern and successful farm of it in very short time. There is also company "Teraline" in Vršac, which deals with the construction of public utility infrastructure, founded by company "Le Mond", the owner of which is a Canadian of Serbian origin - Branislav Živković – Ćeramilac explained in the interview for "Ekapija".

Similar interest has also been expressed lately by numerous large Canadian companies, among which is company "Dundee precious metals", as well as "Nortel", which recently opened its office in Serbia.

- I am extremely happy because company "Nortel" is today present on Serbian market. This is very powerful company, which obviously recognized potential of the local market, as well as the quality and talent of the local experts. All that speaks much about the potential that exists in the field of improvement of economic collaboration between Serbia and Canada, the development of joint projects and new investments placed both by Canadian businessmen here and Serbian entrepreneurs there - Ćeramilac points out.
