Serbia's GDP per capita at 36 percent of EU average

These 2013 data show that Serbia and other countries in the region have failed to make a significant progress over the past two years in getting closer to the EU average with respect to two aforementioned indicators, thus remaining behind the poorest EU countries - Bulgaria and Romania.

According to the web portal EurAktiv Srbija, Montenegro tops the list of regional countries with its GDP totaling 42% of the EU average and consumption expenditure per capita being at 52% of the EU average.

The next on the list is Serbia, followed by Macedonia with GDP and consumption expenditure per capita totaling 35% and 41% of the EU average, respectively. Behind these two are Bosnia-Herzegovina, with GDP of 29% and consumption expenditure of 38%, and Albania, with GDP of 30% and consumption expenditure of 36% of the EU average.
