Head of the Serbian Mission to Brussels, Dusko Lopandic, has signed a Protocol with the European Union on the privileged import of cigarettes from the EU. The pressure on Serbia began the moment Croatia joined the EU and lost the option to sell cigarettes in Serbia without increasing the duties, the daily Blic reports.

According to this Protocol which is an addendum to the Stabilization and Association Agreement between the European Union and ourt country, the EU will be exporting about 1,600 tonnes of cigarettes to Serbia every year with a duty rate amounting to 15%.

Newspapers in Croatia write that the Protocol was signed Wednesday, 25 June 2014.
