Westwood coming to Smederevo - Austrians start negotiations on steel mill acquisition, talks with all potential buyers to commence July

The Task Force for the Zelezara Smederevo Sale will meet next week with the representatives of Austrian investment fund Westwood, a prospective buyer of the company.
The arrival of Westwood's delegation is one of the first steps in the intensification of the Serbian government's activities aimed at selling the steel mill in Smederevo that employs 5,000 people. According to the daily newspaper Blic, the Task Force led by Economy Minister Dusan Vujovic will invite all parties which have expressed interest in entering into partnership with Zelezara Smederevo to a meeting within the next month.

The aim of the Serbian government is to get detailed information on what kind of cooperation with the Smederevo-based company its prospective buyers want to enter into and who is the closest to closing the acquisition.

Dusan Vujovic says that the Government will have a solution for Zelezara Smedeerevo in September 2014, adding that there are 7 or 8 interested investors at the moment.
