Nicotine from Senta - new tobacco factory with capacity of 5 billion cigarettes per year in operation from May

The new, fifth domestic tobacco factory, with the capacity of 5 billion cigarettes a year, or 5,000 tons, will be put into operation in Senta prior to May 2007. It is being built by "Japan Tobacco International", which bought local factory for purchase and refining of raw tobacco in 2006. The cigarettes such as "Winston", "Kamel", "Monte Carlo" and others from its program will, in that way, become the domestic ones.
- Serbian tobacco will be the base of our production, although it will, at first, be sent to our European tobacco blending (mixing and combining) centers - says Tamer Tecirlioglu, General Manager of JTI in Senta.
The new factory will employ about hundred workers within three years. Their advanced training will cost about 0.5m EUR. Total of 14 technologists are already receiving training in JTI's European factories. JTI, in addition to 27.5m EUR it paid for the factory in Senta, plans to invest about 70m EUR in modernization, expansion of production and finalization of tobacco refining.
Senta-based factory for raw tobacco refining is, by the way, the largest in Serbia. It refines more than 40% of domestic tobacco production, with which it supplies both domestic and foreign factories.
