Efficient land management – Belgrade hosts a three-day regional agricultural Lend Next conference

A three-day regional conference of agriculture, Lend Next, dedicated to efficient land management, first of all to reparcelling and rent of land, has started today in Belgrade organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and sponsored by the PAO UN program and the German organization for technical cooperation, GIZ.

The secretary of the state in the Ministry of Agriculture, Zoran Rajic, said that Serbia is aligning its regulations with EU and the objective is to preserve fund of agricultural land and its potential, infrastructure construction, lot enlargement and competitiveness level increase.

- We started important projects of reparcelling for which we received assets from IPA funds of EU and the German Government, in the most undeveloped area of Serbia, southeast and south – Rajic said.

He added that more local self-governances will implement the project but that it should be a good example to others how to influence rural areas development.

This year, 104 experts and more than 30 countries which will exchange its experience in reparcelling will participate at the conference which is held for the sixth time and which Serbia will host for the first time.

Lend Next is an informal international network of land management experts but today, the representatives of FAO, Richard Eberling, said that formal, official organization set up process is in progress.
