Ub-Lajkovac highway to be finished by November 30 – Extended deadline for Corridor 11 section completion

The Ministry of construction, traffic and infrastructure announced that the Ub-Lajkovac highway at Corridor 11 will be finished by November 30 this year and until that moment deadline for the section construction has been extended and contractors will have to stick to planned work dynamics.

The state secretary in the ministry, Dejan Trifunovic said for Tanjug after the meeting at the Government of Serbia with the representatives of the Corridors of Serbia and contractors - Putevi Uzice and Planum, that it was the second meeting with contractors where clear attitude of the state that it will no longer tolerate incompletion of obligations was communicated.

According to him, in the previous period it was very problematic section, 12,5 km long and where the works started four and a half years ago and is funded from the budget.

- It is one of the easiest sections at the Corridor 11 where domestic firms which operate, Putevi Uzice and Planum, have not finished the work yet – the state secretary outlined.

He said that funding planned for this year will be implemented and that the execution of new annex to the contract will be monitored on 10-day basis.

He pointed out there will be no changes in financial terms of the contract as well as that the state, out of total RSD 7,02billion, paid 5,2 billion. Until November 30, as he said, another EUR 10 mill will be paid and the remaining portion in line with the contract, during next year.

- The ministry and the Government have to trace not only when it comes to investments at this Corridor but Zezelj bridge in Novi Sad as well as to delay in Kostolac revitalization. Since we have a number of delays, we have to stop at some point – Trifunovic said, outlining that the ministry treats in the same way both foreign and local investors.
