MIHAJLOVIC: Law on country rehabilitation underway

The Minister of Construction, traffic and infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, has said today that the Government will soon present the proposal of the law on floods consequences rehabilitation.

- The Law on rehabilitation of the country which should speed up rehabilitation caused by floods will very soon reach Government and after that it will go to parliament members – Mihajlovic said for RTS.

She said that the law will speed up the rehabilitation of roads, houses, public facilities and schools which have to be ready for the students in two months.

Expert teams are examining the site and public facilities and in the next two months they will have to be used for the country rehabilitation, Mihajlovic said and outlined that the Government is engaged in this task.

The Minister said that the National Strategy for traffic safety which should decrease the car accidents rate will be finished in 20 days.

- We will try to work in three directions – drivers’ commitments, commitments of those who issue certificate for vehicles and commitments of companies working on roads so that we would provide a safe driver, a safe vehicle and a safe road which does not exist today –Mihajlovic said for RTS.

She said that the new strategy will include more police on roads, severe controls and better intercity communication with traffic police, courts, and strict conditions for licenses for professional drivers as well as that everybody issuing certificate will have to have a license.

- According to our law, a child must sit in a separate seat in a car until she or he is three while EU has more severe criteria. We will change that as well – Mihajlovic said.

The Minster said that in three years, 1100 km of road sections which are the most frequent will be rehabilitated which should contribute to increase in traffic safety and pointed out that this year, 50 kilometers of road should be constructed.
