The President of the Foreign Investors Council, Budimir Kostić, stated that 3.5 billion EUR worth of foreign investments were expected in Serbia in 2007.

This year, the privatization of the Petroleum Industry of Serbia will be finished and, through that process, a significant inflow of foreign investments is expected. Kostić explained that in the privatization process of NIS, the Government would sell 25% of stocks, while the workers, who would receive 12% of stocks, would do the same, which would be a significant inflow.

He pointed to the significance of so-called "greenfield" investments, which will contribute to the creation of new jobs, as well as to reduction of foreign-trade deficit of Serbia. Kostić pointed out that we should invest much effort into stimulation and attraction of direct foreign investments.
