June 9, with the help of the Directorate for civil aviation, Belgrade will host the meeting between reps of Serbian and Turkish airlines, Air Serbia and Turkish Airlines. The total scope of air traffic between Serbia and Turkey during summer season will depend on the meeting outcome.
In its announcement delivered to Tanjug, the Directorate stated that the meeting is organized for reaching the agreement between the two companies on the flights by the end of the flying season.
As announced, the officials from the Ministry of construction, traffic and infrastructure of Serbia will attend the meeting.
Some Belgrade media reported that Turkish airlines could lose ideal slots, i.e. take off and landing times at the Nikola Tesla airport as of July 1.
The problem is that the interstate between Serbia and Turkey does not imply reciprocity and the Turks have 21 flights weekly from Belgrade while Air Serbia ahs only seven and even not towards the main airport, Ataturk but six lands at an auxiliary one, Sabiha Gukcen, at the Asian side of Istanbul.
Air Serbia submitted a request to return to the main airport at Istanbul and to get more favorable slots.
