EU support of EUR 30 mil in July

On Friday, June 6, 2014, the minister without a portfolio, in charge of European integrations, Jadranka Joksimovic , said that as of July, Serbia might start using EUR 30 mil of the remaining support from EU IPA program 2012.
She explained the funds are the remaining ones generate from the savings which resulted from convenient tender offers and unsigned contracts for different purposes which were not signed due to lack of permits or poor administration.
At the meeting held at the recorate of the Belgrade University, she said that Serbia has already given a framework for assets exploitation to the EU and this month it will provide detailed information, the moment the damage estimation completes.
She pointed out that Serbia will get the majority portion of the funds for rehabilitation from floods consequences form EU.
The Head of the EC Expansion Directorate, Jean Eric Paquet, said that EU member-states are ready to help Serbia and that it will soon be enabled to use unused funds from IPA programs 2012.
He reminded that the moment Serbia asked for EU help “in a few minutes, a mechanism of the civil protection of the Union was started”.
The Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Michael Davenport, said that the European Commission has “tight cooperation with the Government of Serbia, i.e. with the EU Integration office, so that a convincing request for the assets from EU Solidarity Fund would be prepared".
He reminded that Serbia ahs 12 weeks as of the moment the floods started to submit request to the Fund.
