Serbia - Discussion about Draft Law on Tourism ended - Government to introduce new brand in tourism

Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with Tourist Organization of Serbia, will take all necessary steps for creation of new brand in tourism and new slogan that will play important role in international promotion of our country - said Minister Bojan Dimitrijević at the end of the discussion on Governmental Draft Law on Tourism.

He announced that the Ministry took series of steps in order to attract investments and form agency whose task would be design of strategy for privatization of hotels, mainly those in Belgrade. There is also initiative of the Ministry of Finance for freeing of tourist organizations that do business with foreign tourists from the value added tax. Design of tourist signal system is also in the pipeline. He expressed hope that Republic would have congress bureau in 2006, which would be important institution for the development of tourism, and added that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, it worked on improvement of organization of excursions. Besides, he stated that there were suggestions for uniting of Stara mountain, Divčibare mountain, Golije mountain, Kopaonik mountain and Tara mountain.
