Sunoko expects to produce up to 300,000 tons of sugar a year

Sunoko, a member of the MK Group, sowed about 35,000 hectares with sugar beet this year, and its this year's production is expected to reach 300,000 tons of sugar, which will make it possible for the company to keep its leading position in the Balkans, Sunoko said in a release.

According to the release, Sunoko has recently commissioned a molasses desugarization facility in Pecinci, in which about EUR 20 million was invested, while additional five million euro or so will be invested in Sunoko's three sugar plants this year.

The aim of these additional investments is to increase the processing capacity, reduce the costs of production, boost the energy efficiency, and preserve the environment.

Companies Sunoko and Agroglobe, members of the MK Group, celebrated the traditional Day of Sugar Beet Fields on Friday (30 May 2013) at the Agrounija estate near Indjija.
