The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has made the first assessment of the damages caused by floods - between 1.5 and 2 billion euro in Serbia, and about 1.3 billion euro in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The EBRD explained that the biggest damages in Serbia had been caused to agriculture, road infrastructure and energy facilities, primarily those of the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS).

Floods will also have an adverse effect on economic growth and inflation, the EBRD said in a release.

For this year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has forecasted that Serbia's economy will grow 1%, but it is now pointed out that these forecasts may be reduced because of floods.
