The Serbian government has adopted an amendment postponing the introduction of new contribution rates for health and pension insurance until August 1st because of floods and the state of emergency, Serbian Finance Minister Lazar Krstic said Wednesday (28 May 2014).

He told the press after a session of the Finance Committee of National Assembly of Serbia that the new amendment postponed the application of changed contribution rates, which was supposed to begin July 1st, until August 1st because the budget revision that was scheduled for June would be postponed until July to make time to assess the damages caused by floods.

According to amendments to the Law on Mandatory Social Insurance Contributions, health insurance contributions will be lowered from 12.3 to 10.3 percent in order to increase the pension and disability insurance contributions from 24 to 26 percent.
