The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will resume talks with Serbia this autumn instead of doing that immediately after the formation of the new Government as initially planned, the IMF Office in Belgrade said in a release today.

- The new Government is now in the process of formulating the economic policy as well as assessing the damages caused by recent devastating floods. The Fund will continue to provide economic advice and technical assistance, and we expect the negotiations on the new program to be resumed in the autumn - said Daehaeng Kim, the IMF permanent representative to Belgrade.

He reminded that an IMF mission had visited Belgrade in February/March 2014 in order to start talks with Serbian authorities about a new program, adding that meetings had been constructive and that it had been agreed to resume them as soon as the new Government had been formed after the parliamentary elections in the country.
