Works on construction of gas pipeline "Blue Stream" through Serbia to start in August

The first meeting of the Project task force for construction of gas pipeline
"Blue Stream" through Serbia,
which will spread from the border with Bulgaria
to the border with Croatia,
was held yesterday (February 15, 2007) in Belgrade.
- The methodology of work on design of technical and economic documents required
for further implementation of this Project has been adopted at the meeting. The construction
of the gas pipeline across the territory
of Serbia will result in
achievement of three goals - says Željko Martinović, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of Serbia.
He says that the implementation of the Project will provide the natural gas supply source, the preconditions for the connection of the entire republic to the gas system will be created and, finally, Serbia will move from the status of the end-user to the position of the country of the regional importance for transportation of natural gas.
The plan is that the complete works on the planning of gas pipeline through Serbia (from Dimitrovgrad to Croatian border) be ended by the end of July 2007 and the investment worth about 1 billion USD will be realized prior to 2010.
