Italian Ambassador, Alessandro Merola, stated that the year 2007 would be very difficult for Serbia due to political uncertainty. He also said that the forming of stable government was very important for the business climate, because the projects in economy depended on its decisions.

At the promotion of two economic fairs in Ancona and Pordenone, dedicated to the machines for plastic processing, Merola estimated that many businesses would not commence until the Government was formed, because the investors were indecisive. He reminded that there were international funds that should be invested in the infrastructure, transport and logistics of Serbia.

The Ambassador said that the most significant resource of Serbia was its geographic position and he pointed out that many Italian small and mid-sized enterprises had invested in Serbia in 2006 and some of them had even moved production to Serbia, attracted by the benefits the Government of Serbia had offered in field of employment or investing.

Merola announced that he would invite Italian companies to place more investments in Serbia, because Serbia was the market in strong development and in the center of the region.
