Ikea's arrival to Croatia closed down 'Kika' department store

'Steinhoff Group', the owner of 'Kika', has decided to fight for its customers through its discounter, 'Emmezete', which will be moving into the department store near the first Croatian 'Ikea', according to the newspaper 'Jutarnji list'.
Bruno Steinhoff, the founder of 'Group Steinhoff International', owner of 'Kika' and 'Emmezete', the leading European competitor to the Swedish 'Ikea', owned by Ingvar Kamprad, has decided to move its furniture sale business by the brand name 'Kika' from eastern Zagreb, where it is expected the opening of 'Ikea' sale saloon in August, in Rugvica.
According to 'Kika' management, they are conducting 'a sale due to refurnishing', which actually means that 'Kika' is going to completely move out from the location and 'Emmezete' is coming in.
'Steinhoff' vs. 'Ikea'
'Group Steinhoff International' made 7,205 billion EUR of income and 676 million EUR profit in the business year that ended in June 2013. The Swedish furniture manufacturer, 'Ikea', finished its last business year, on August, 2013, with over 27,9 billion EUR.
'Ikea' has 303 department stores in 26 countries, and Croatia is the first new market it is coming in within the last eight years. It is still unknown when is 'Ikea' going to open its first department store in Serbia.
