The Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) announced in the night of May 16th that due to a flood in a 400/200kV substation situated in front of the thermal power station Nikola Tesla A (TENT) in Obrenovac, certain units of that power plant had been shut down, stressing that there would not be any power cuts.
EPS also said that a sufficient amount of electricity was provided and that there was no indication at the moment that there would be any power cuts, but it was underlined that power consumption was to be reduced in order to preserve the stability of the power supply system.
Aside from the units that are shut down, all other power generation facilities in Obrenovac - TENT B, and other parts of the EPS system (thermal power stations Morava, Kostolac A, Kostolac B, all Djerdap power plants and the Drinsko-Limske hydroelectric power plants) are still in operation.
Even in these circumstances of natural disasters and unprecedented floods, the Electric Power Company of Serbia will continue a stable supply of power to the citizens and the economy of Serbia, EPS said in its release.
