Possible export of organic milk and raspberries from Serbia to USA

The U.S. organic food market is huge and it provides opportunities for the export of agricultural products from Serbia, primarily dairy products and berry-like fruits, mainly fresh raspberries, Serbian Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Snezana Bogosavljevic Boskovic and US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby assessed.

Mr. Kirby, who visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection on Thursday, and Mrs. Bogosavljevic Boskovic spoke on that occasion about opportunities for improving their cooperation in the field of agriculture, the ministry announced in a release.

The Serbian agriculture minister pointed out that economic cooperation between Serbia and the USA was on a rise at all levels, adding that their trade in agricultural and food products in the period 2007-2013 totaled about USD 30 million annually.

American investments in the agricultural business in Serbia have reached USD 24 million, while USD 14.7 million has been invested in SMEs, as part of the U.S. financial aid for the development of municipalities where 470 enterprises and 32 offices for local economic development have been opened and 13,200 new jobs created.
