Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade announced Wednesday that its profit in the first quarter of 2014 had totaled RSD 53.7 million, down 43 percent from the same period in 2013.

According to the quarterly financial statement published on the website of the Belgrade Stock Exchange (belex.rs), this drop in profit was caused by a bigger growth of expenses than revenues in the first quarter.

Total revenues of the airport in Q1 2014 were at RSD 1.68 billion, up RSD 404 million from the same period in 2013, while expenditures grew by RSD 448 million to RSD 1.62 billion.

Nikola Tesla Airport's business revenues went up 26 percent to RSD 1.57 billion, while its business profit amounted to RSD 352 million, 2.5 times more than in the first three months of 2013.

According to the data available on the website anna.aero, Belgrade-based Nikola Tesla Airport handled 785,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2014, 30% more than in Q1 2013.
