Australian companies eye mining sector in Serbia

Australian Ambassador to Belgrade Julia Feeney said Tuesday that economic cooperation between Serbia and Australia was quite limited, adding that mineral resources were what attracted the attention of companies from that faraway country the most.
- Business ties between Serbia and Australia are pretty narrowed, but there is a potential for doing much more than now - Ms Feeney told Tanjug news agency.

She added that the ties with Australia had come down to personal contacts between people, but she also noted that there were opportunities for improving the cooperation, on which the Embassy of Australia in Belgrade was intensively working at the moment.

Feeney said that mining was a sector with a huge potential for attracting investment from Australian companies.

- There are several Australian companies interested in mining and the exploration of natural resources in Serbia, and that is where the potential for stronger economic cooperation lies - the ambassador explained.
