Shooting of Croatian-Serbian-Slovenian-Bosnian-Macedonian movie "Karaula" started

The first frames of the latest movie by director Rajko Grlić, "Karaula", in the realization of which participate the big team of artists and financiers gathered from almost all former Yugoslav republics, as well as from some "farther" foreign countries, were shot in Bitolj.

The initial shooting was carried out on the location in the vicinity of Bitolj-based Students' Dormitory. The filming crew will be moving to the slopes of the rugged mountain of Galičice, above the Ohrid Lake. The plan is that the movie is filmed for eight months. The main facility in the film was built on Galičica, as well as military watchtower, where the filming crew will spend about six months. After that time, they will come down to Ohrid and continue shooting in the studio built in the deserted cold storage plant. It is most probably that the premiere will take place in the early spring 2006.

"Karaula" is comedy. It depicts the destinies of the people who are facing the tragedy. The plot is settled in 1987, on one of the watchtowers of former JNA, on the border between former Yugoslavia and Albania in the time when the days of the federation have been numbered, although nobody still knows it. The entire project will cost about €2m. Grlić wrote the scenario together with the author of hit novel "Ništa nas ne sme iznenaditi" (Nothing can surprise us), Ante Tomić from Croatia, which will be used as the base for "Karaula". The actors in this movie come from almost all former Yugoslav republics: Toni Gojanović, Sergej Trifunović, Bogdan Diklić, Verica Nedevska - Trajkova, Emir Hadžihafizbegović... The music composer is Goran Bregović, photography director is Slobodan Trninić, arts director is Kiril Spaseski, whereas production designer is Kemal Hrustanović...

"Karaula" gathered numerous producers from former Yugoslav republics: Ademir Kenović and his company "Refresh" from Sarajevo, Danijel Hočevar and "Emotion film" from Ljubljana, Vladimir Anastasov and "Sektor film" from Skopje, Milko Osifov and Belgrade-based company "Jodi movie craftsmen", Boris Matić and Zagreb's producer "Propeler film". The producers from Austria, France and Great Britain have also taken part in the making of the movie. Grlić has also been financially backed by "Euroimage"...
