Air Serbia to fly to USA as of 2015?

Air Serbia is going to establish direct service to the United States of America next year, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced yesterday.

He met with James Hogan, the president of Etihad. The co-owners of Air Serbia, the Serbian government and the airline from Abu Dhabi, agreed to reestablish a direct service to the USA. Our country should get the Category 1 status from the U.S. Federal Aviation Authorities (FAA) by mid-2014, which would make it possible for airlines in Serbia to operate direct flights to the USA. Serbia lost that category ten years ago, and now it again meets all requirements to get it back.

- Serbia's flag carrier increased the number of passengers in April 2014 by as much as 80 percent from the same period last year - Vucic pointed out.
